Interfere, yes. Deface, never. It was with this idea in mind that the
57 professionals , including architects, interior designers and landscapers, who make up the cast of
CASACOR Rio this year created
the 38 environments of the show . After all, the
Brando Barbosa Residence , which houses the 30th edition of the Rio franchise, has been listed by INEPAC (State Institute of Cultural Heritage) since 1998 and houses beautiful
original architectural elements that deserve to be valued.

"We worked together to ensure that certain aspects were preserved. We asked the architects to leave everything that was important visible,
without overshadowing the original features of the house . For us, this is also a look at
sustainability , which shows people that it is possible
to take advantage of what the house has to offer and still create contemporary environments," says Patrícia Mayer, managing partner of the exhibition alongside Patrícia Quentel.

Examples of
recovered pieces can be seen throughout the rooms. Carrara marble floors in the first floor lounges and rosewood floors on the second; designed and worked ceilings; solid wood portals; chandeliers; unique Murano door handles (
no two pieces are the same . And there are 48 doors throughout the house!). And there are still countless changes created by professionals. In the
Library , for example, architect Andrea Chicharo took advantage of a huge
bookcase that was in the original space, but
completely changed the furniture , replacing its shelves with copper-colored niches with internal lighting and painting the wood. In this way, the piece became much lighter and
gained enormous prominence in the environment .
In
Cozinha dos Amigos , the duo Andréa Duarte and Anna Malta did something similar.
All the original cabinets were kept . But the dark tone of the wood was painted gray, completely transforming the space. The difference is even more noticeable because in the hall of the space, a small shelf was kept in its original color. The space
also kept the stove and industrial refrigerators that belonged to the house . Only one, which was in no condition to be used, was dismantled, but
part of its parts were used to create a bar – just one of the many upcycles created by the professionals in this edition.
Another of these upcycles can be seen in the
Master Bedroom , by Paola Ribeiro. There, the original cabinets had their doors removed and
were given a new function: as a bookcase . The structure was painted white while the background was covered with a delicate patterned wallpaper. A solution that helped to bring the
cozy and feminine air so present in the room.

But there are even more unusual examples . In his
Cooking 2 Go Emporium , which occupies the house's old workshop, next to where the laundry used to be, architect Tiago Freire took advantage of the old ironing table, covered it entirely in white tiles and gave it a new function, which
now serves as a dining space for groups that visit the house together.
And how could you not notice the house's
tiles ?
All of the tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms were preserved and restored . And they became even more prominent with the changes made by the cast, who chose either strong tones or white to
further enhance their original beauty . A show in itself!
