Deforestation and tree felling is a constant problem around the world. In Brazil, more than 1,000 trees are cut down every minute in the Legal Amazon , according to the Plena Mata panel, from DETER/INPE, in 2021. With this in mind, the Japanese designer Yuma Kano developed ForestBank , a type of sustainable timber .

The wood developed by Kano attracts attention because of its raw material: he uses tree remains, leaves, seeds and the soil itself to develop it. The mixture is made only with a reactive mineral base and water-based acrylic resin that does not contain organic solvents or volatile compounds.
The creation became popular especially after the material was present at DESIGNART Tokyo 2022 in pieces of furniture (tables and chairs) that were exhibited.

ForestBank can be used like any other wood in various types of carpentry , furniture creation and interior design. In addition to nature itself, the material can be made from tree residues along roadsides, parks and gardens, as well as from waste wood from workshops, to create original patterns that tell a unique story.
