For their latest project, architect Sasha Jokic and her team at US startup Cosmic have developed a smart building system to design an all-electric, zero-emissions home that aims to be a bold new step in solving the housing crisis and climate . (Milos Martinovic/CASACOR)

The projects differ from the norm in a few ways: According to the company, they are built using a simplified process that is faster, more cost-effective and less wasteful than traditional methods. Buildings are designed to generate their own activity using minimal energy and without fossil fuels . In addition, they can generate extra energy that is stored and redistributed . The team has completed its first model unit , an ADU called the Cosmic Studio, which totals 350 square feet . The compact residence features one bathroom and an open area for sleeping, living, dining and cooking. (Milos Martinovic/CASACOR)
