For the second year in a row, the
CASACOR Sao Paulo receive the
Zero Waste Certification , granted by
Instituto Lixo Zero Brasil (ILZB) , an autonomous, non-profit civil society organization, pioneer in the dissemination of the Zero Waste concept in Brazil and the ZWIA –
Zero Waste International Alliance, an international movement of organizations that develop the concept and principles of Zero Waste in the World. The certification refers to the 2021 edition of
CASACOR Sustainability Program , implemented in São Paulo since 2016, with several stages that included raising awareness among work teams and architects; adopting measures such as dry construction, saving and reusing water resources; energy saving; selective collection;
recycling program and
proper disposal of waste , promoting the circular economy; in addition to donating construction materials resulting from the dismantling of the event to NGOs, among other actions to reach the unprecedented mark of
99.7% waste recovery .
In 2021, CASACOR São Paulo also achieved the
HBC Maintenance COVID-19 PLUS Certification , granted by the
Healthy Building Certificate (HBC), which required a standard in the creation and maintenance of buildings that improve health and well-being, with the mission to ensure
healthy spaces for a well-being society. Aspects such as architectural design; lighting; acoustic quality, materials and indoor air; hydraulic and electrical projects,
landscaping and common areas and
sustainability were observed.
THE
CASACOR Sao Paulo 2021 was marked as the year in which the event returned to being itinerant. After a long season at the Jockey Club, where it remained for 14 years, the 34th edition took place at
Parque Mirante , a multipurpose event space in Latin America attached to the
Arena Allianz Parque. The theme explored this year was “
The Original House ” and featured
56 spaces , including houses, apartments and lofts, designed by the leading names in
Brazilian architecture . The exhibition was held from September 21 to November 15 with around
80 thousand visitors in a location fully prepared to comply with health protocols and guarantee the physical integrity of everyone during this pandemic period.
For
CASACOR 's General Director,
André Secchin , the certification demonstrates that the company uses the
best practices recognized by the segment. “In addition to the benefits for the environment and society, the implementation of an appropriate Zero Waste Action Plan also brings
significant economic benefits to the business. We involve all
CASACOR stakeholders in this process, from internal and external employees, suppliers and sponsors, and even the visiting public. Everyone is considered a key player and agent not only in carrying out actions within our space, but also as
multipliers of this waste management policy , enhancing the value generated by the event for the entire chain and beyond.” .
The audit has a series of internationally established prerequisites that can be applied to
any establishment or event . Its main objective is to attest to the correct management of solid waste applied in accordance with the Zero Waste methodology, which guarantees that
there has been excellence and
care. with the environment.
The numbers for 2021
In 2021, CASACOR São Paulo generated 674 tons of waste and
99.7% was diverted from landfills and was reused or recycled . The total amount of waste generated represented a decrease of approximately
95 kg in each square meter of decorated environment compared to 2019.
This impressive drop of
46.57% was the result of the building's configuration, which provided a reduced need to build structures “from scratch”; reduction in the total area of built environments; and the way waste generation was recorded, done directly by the registered weight. on scales suitable for each type of waste storage and by maintaining the
ban on masonry constructions , which reduced the proportion of rubble in relation to the total waste generated, going from 59% (2019) to 48%.
“With our Sustainability Management Program, we promote the continuity of consumption control actions, with a series of practices that begin at the construction site and continue through to dismantling. We install water-saving devices in all faucets and sanitary ware, all light bulbs used are LED, we separate and dispose of all waste properly, we implement reverse logistics and energy generation actions, for 2022 we will continue with all these actions and many others to obtain the Zero Waste event certification again”, explains Darlan Firmato, architect and Events and Sustainability manager at CASACOR São Paulo.
This action was reinforced in the 2021 edition by the responsibility embraced by CASACOR in building the
room dividers with drywall , a lightweight construction system that requires less material, generates less waste and enables rapid construction. To continue the Sustainability Commitment, a series of measures and solutions aligned with the
CASACOR Sustainability Program were adopted and the result was visible not only behind the scenes, but also in the
professionals' projects , which focused on rationalizing and industrializing constructions and on reuse of materials.
Among the highlights was the prefabricated structure of the
LG ThinQ House put
Guto Requena Studio + Pax Arquitetura . The
open-source project, carried out using the Wikihouse platform, was built using sheets of naval pine plywood, machined by hand and assembled using joints. A clean, fast and waste-free project. THE
Deca Studio created by
Leo Romano , an imposing structure of almost 400 m² with Nordic inspiration, presented a construction technique of interlocking
Cambará wood and a translucent roof, which results in a simple, inviting and, at the same time,
sustainable plasticity. The materials used in the base of the construction are
100% reusable. The expansion of social responsibility activities is also part of the strategies, with the
Daniela's House Project , in partnership with
NGO Fazendinhando , by architect
Ester Carro. CASACOR's noble waste was used in the
renovation of a house in Jardim Colombo/Paraisópolis , with work carried out by Fazendeiras, women from the neighborhood who received training in civil construction during the CASACOR São Paulo project. with training in painting, in partnership with
Tintas Coral . The renovation, which is part of the
FazendoLar project It was based on aesthetic quality and functionality, providing dignity and enabling different uses of the environments for the family.
