A startup in Colombia has created a
plastic block that has a structural function to create
sustainable homes . Called
Conceptos Plásticos , the company identified a business opportunity based on a
socio-environmental problem related to the excessive disposal of plastic. In Bogotá, 740 tons of plastic are discarded every day, a scenario that is reflected around the world. The initiative was created to give a new purpose to this waste, which can take up to 300 years to decompose in the environment.
"The goal is to respond to different problems that affect the community today, while contributing to
reducing the pollution that plastic waste causes to the environment and its impact on global warming," said Ricardo Rico, manager of
Conceptos .
Plastics .
Conceptos' plastic blocks are made from a mix of plastics that are very difficult to recycle or dispose of. The company was able to combine these capabilities and create a highly flexible and durable material.
Bricks are easy to assemble , highly durable and have low production and sales costs. Contrary to popular belief, hardened plastic ends up being stronger than traditional construction materials, and also provides thermal and acoustic comfort to the space. . In addition to creating raw materials, the company also trains the recycling community around the world, from Colombia to Africa. Discover this and other sustainable practices on CASACOR's Instagram:
