Last Monday (8), architects, landscapers, interior designers and representatives of institutional bodies were present at the mansion that will host the first CASACOR Piauí to plant seedlings and seeds in a moment of practical action and awareness about the preservation of nature. In charge of the Deca space, architects João Almeida and Gustavo Almeida are responsible for the design and execution of the agroforestry – an ancient agricultural model , used by many peoples around the world, which aims to produce food and, to the same extent, preserve forests. In addition to food, it also aims to act as an environmental recovery process.

According to Frederico Carvalho , from the General Management of CASACOR Piauí , holding this event to plant seedlings in the agroforestry system is “extremely important, because we see everyone’s engagement, including architects and society,” he shares. Cristina Napoleão , from the Executive Board, Projects and Curatorship, says that contact with this system of sociability with nature is enriching. “It is a way for everyone to learn about and have access to this. When I found out about it, it was a very pleasant surprise. We are working in favor of nature . It is wonderful to be this stage for people to learn about this culture.”

The positive impacts of agroforestry extend to all professionals involved in the event. Alexandra Martins and Anelise Carvalho , from Studio Arq, responsible for the Bossa B.art environment (the event's bar), state that “[it was possible] to see and learn, as well as to promote what agroforestry is.” The professional adds: “we always hear about agroforestry, but experiencing it is completely different . CASACOR provides us with a range of other knowledge from the spaces of our colleagues.” Thays Paiva , IBAMA superintendent, points out that “being able to combine this with the entire agroforestry system is incredible. We have the present, the present : sowing tomorrow. This is the theme we are proposing to bring to the exhibition”. Paulo Vieira , administrative head of EMBRAPA Meio Norte, emphasizes that the initiative helps in understanding “disseminating the science involved in agroecology . It is possible for a person, in a small space, to be able to produce without using products that influence ecological imbalance. It is living in harmony with nature ”, he concludes.
