This Tuesday, October 10th,
CASACOR Ribeirão Preto receives a special visit:
Kalymaracaya, the first indigenous chef recognized in Brazil , with important participations in gastronomic programs such as MasterChef and The Taste, will be at the show to personally see the
Indigenous Chef's Refuge environment.
As the name suggests, Kalymaracaya was the inspiration for interior designer
Thaís Alves when it came to designing the space. “The theme of this edition of
CASACOR is
Body and Home . After the pandemic, we focused our attention on taking care of our health and our bodies. Now, it’s time to reflect this in our homes. When I received the invitation to participate in the show, I had just taken some courses in the area of
biophilia , which is the love of life, the love of nature. I decided to follow this line, which makes perfect sense within the event’s proposal, but I wanted someone real to be the protagonist, with a story that could be told through the environment,” explains Thaís.
This search led her to Kalymaracaya, a descendant of the Terena tribe. “I did a lot of research on the internet until I saw a photo of a warrior woman, strong and sensitive at the same time, with a
look that overflowed with ancestry . I was sure that Kalymaracaya was the owner of the space. After some apprehension at first, because I thought she would be inaccessible, I sent her a message telling her about the project and, to my delight, she responded and was super involved in every stage of the process, sharing several references”, she reveals.
The result of this partnership has surprised and moved visitors.
Everything was developed and executed according to Kalymaracaya’s wishes – from the most symbolic details, such as the hammock, the aquarium with Pantanal fish, the unique design of the pool, which represents the river, the plants aimed at subsistence, including a cassava plant, the mud bricks, the sounds and aromas, to the most modern touches, such as the top-of-the-line appliances, worthy of a “
masterchef ”. “
The goal of my work is to perpetuate our culture . We have maintained our roots, our essence, but it is important to keep in mind that we have also evolved. The project is beautiful. Thaís built a dream for me”, highlights the honoree. During the visit, which is scheduled for
6:30 pm , the public present will be able to chat with
Kalymaracaya , who will share a little about her journey while preparing a
typical tea from the Terena tribe .
