Brazilian landscaping has lost one of its most creative and prominent names:
Mauro Contesini, who passed away last Sunday, November 16. An agronomist graduated from the Federal University of Lavras (1997), the Paulist found in landscaping the ideal ground to unite technique, memory, and poetry—and over the years, he built a path recognized all over the world. At CASACOR, the professional has been participating since 2017.

Mauro's story with the exhibition began in 2015, at the Campinas edition, when he presented a blooming garden at a time when green foliage predominated. The sensitive boldness caught the attention of the curation, which two years later invited him to participate in the exhibition in São Paulo—a invite that would initiate a lasting partnership. Each season, Mauro received challenging projects, as he preferred, and each edition delivered technically impeccable, creative, and welcoming projects, regardless of the difficulties.

Behind the scenes, his strongest mark was constant kindness, always with a gentle word, encouragement, and attentive listening. His gaze towards the plants transcended the project: he recovered affective memories from the species, creating compositions that united functionality, design, and sustainability—traits that also earned him two awards for Best Landscape Project at CASACOR Campinas.

Mauro Contesini leaves a legacy of beauty, care, and humanity—and a great longing in every garden of the memory of those who knew him.
