CASACOR RS kicks off its 30th anniversary edition at Open House

Located on a plot of land high up in the Rio Branco neighborhood, in Porto Alegre, the century-old building that will be the headquarters of CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul 2022 impacted architects and the press on the morning of Wednesday, February 16, when the show's management received invited to the traditional Open House . The meeting, which presented the project, concept and spaces that will be transformed into the exhibition environments to the market, brought together around 300 professionals interested in participating in the 30th anniversary edition of CASACOR RS . “In this special year, CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul will take place in a unique property, with historical, architectural and cultural value , located in a privileged area, in one of the most noble neighborhoods of Porto Alegre. In addition to the great structure, the listed building through historical heritage, it allows us countless possibilities for creation , adds a complete entertainment option to the cultural calendar of Rio Grande do Sul and moves the market with several business opportunities”, explains the director of the exhibition in RS, Karína Capaverde.

The building, named Pia Instituição Chaves Barcellos , dates back to 1923 and aimed to welcome and educate orphaned and needy girls, and remained in operation through the Association of Franciscan Sisters until 2005. Some aspects of the building are striking, such as the imposing façade with its wide staircases , the architectural details of the ceilings and internal doors, the tile and wood floors, and the neo-Gothic chapel , in an impressive state of conservation, which can be seen by visitors through from the mezzanine of the house. Architect Aclaene de Mello , responsible for the event's overall architectural design, says that one of the main challenges was creating the visitor circuit . "The layout was a determining factor, both in choosing the mix of spaces and in the event's operation. . And because it is a property in the process of being listed, many features will be preserved, such as floors, ceilings and frames , which will further enrich the exhibition”, he explains. The general project for CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul 2022 is directed by architect Vera Capaverde and the coordinator of historical heritage and restoration is architect Lucas Volpato .
