The elegant visual effect and the large proportions of the format made the slabs one of the preferred coverings for
CASACOR professionals in 2024. Versatile, the material appeared in many environments of the shows and the creativity of architects and interior designers revealed different possibilities of use. In addition to floors and walls, they also covered countertops, panels and even furniture.
For
Portinari , a CASACOR supporter, the recent collections prove the quality and usability of this type of large-scale porcelain tile, with 120 x 280 cm slabs. “The slabs are extremely resistant to scratches, stains and wear, providing greater safety and peace of mind in everyday life. Ease of maintenance is also a strong point. The surface makes cleaning easier, especially because it requires less grout between pieces,” explains Patricia Loch Zanivan, surface design coordinator at Dexco, about the continuous visual effect created by the material. With a variety of colors and finishes, the covering has been integrated into the composition of interiors of different styles. In the São Paulo edition of CASACOR, for example, in the
As Rosas Falam space, by Marcelo Salum and Duratex, Lastra Città covered the entire kitchen countertop. This type of porcelain tile references the metropolitan atmosphere with details that resemble burnt cement – a great contrast to the delicacy evoked by the concept of this space.
This same model even starred in Rodrigo Coelho's
Jewelry Store in the Rio de Janeiro edition. There, the pieces covered the floor and walls, reinforcing the majestic air of the decor.
Also in Rio de Janeiro, architect Paula Neder created a large countertop for
Deca's Praia SPA using, this time, Monumental Cement slabs - the ideal match for Deca's ceramics, part of the Dexco brand. The Gales model was first used on the floor of the
Guest Suite , designed by the duo Tiana Meggiolaro and Bia Mayrinck and inspired by the Fairmont Rio; and, later, in the bathroom, it also covered the walls and countertop, creating a sophisticated visual unity.
The versatility of the material continued to be popular in the other areas of the show. In Minas Gerais, Lastra Audaz, which harks back to volcanic stones, gave sophistication and sobriety to the flooring and countertops of Gourmet Abtah, developed by Angelo Coelho, Angelo Coelho Filho, Cristina and Andre Morethson. Meanwhile, Lastra Mezzo harmonized with the biophilic proposal in the bathroom of the
Memorável Hotel Suite , by architects Mariana Borges and Thaysa Godoy, founders of Escritório Borges Godoy.
For Portinari, one of the advantages of using this large-scale coating is precisely the material’s high durability and ease of adaptation to different scenarios. “This resistance to wear and tear and damage guarantees a long service life, which reduces the need for frequent replacements. This not only saves resources, but also significantly reduces waste,” concludes Patricia, reinforcing the commitment to sustainability that permeates all stages of the industrial process to minimize the impacts of operations on the environment.
