1. Choose the right soil

The violet requires well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. A specific substrate for African violets or a mixture of soil, perlite, and sphagnum moss is often ideal. This composition allows the roots to breathe and prevents excess moisture, which can cause rot.

2. Regular watering

Avoiding excess water is crucial for growing violets. Keep the soil slightly moist, but never soggy. Water directly into the soil to avoid wetting the leaves, which can lead to spots and fungal diseases.

3. Indirect light

Violets need indirect light to bloom. Whether indoors or outdoors, it’s important to place them in a spot where the sunlight is filtered, such as near a window with sheer curtains.

4. Mild temperatures

For violets to grow healthily, it’s important that the projects are kept at a temperature between 18°C and 24°C. Protect the plants from drafts of cold air and excessive heat, which can harm growth and blooming.

5. Perform regular fertilization

Fertilization is essential to keep violets nourished and vigorous. Use specific fertilizers for violets or balanced fertilizers, applying them every four to six weeks during the growing period. This will help stimulate blooming and keep the leaves healthy and shiny.
