Rain or shine at CASACOR São Paulo 2024 , the plants on display include different climate variations, lighting and decoration styles designed for each type of garden. Some people grow plants on windowsills, in backyards, open patios or indoor spaces, and therefore the landscaping carried out at CASACOR provides visitors with diverse inspiration. Below, check out the predominant genera and species in the gardens of this edition and the care tips offered by the show's landscapers!

The botanical genus Philodendron , or Philodendron, appeared in the gardens of CASACOR São Paulo in different species. The need to design a garden in a space without natural light led Elaine Kalil to opt for Colombian Philodendrons , a species that adapts to shaded environments. "They brought a different movement to the garden. I created a tropical garden with the intention of welcoming the construction and making the house look as if it had been built in the middle of the forest ", comments the landscaper. Renata Guastelli Paisagismo - Conexão Natural. Projeto da CASACOR São Paulo 2024. Another garden designed in a covered area of the exhibition is the Conexão Natural space, designed by Renata Guastelli. In the project, the landscaper presents another possible variation of the genus: the Philodendron Undulatum, or Wavy Philodendron. According to the landscaper, the main care for the plant involves constant watering every three days and cleaning the leaves. Photosynthetic lighting is another valid resource, explains the landscaper: "It helps maintain the photosynthesis of the plants, in this area that is dark and without natural light." Mônica Costa Paisagismo - Vista Xingu. Projeto da CASACOR São Paulo 2024. This species is also present in Mônica Costa 's garden, the first environment on the CASACOR São Paulo 2024 route. Mônica explains that the smooth, shiny green leaves of the Wavy Philodendron make it a good choice for indoors and shaded gardens due to its decorative appeal and preference for indirect lighting. "Direct sunlight can burn the leaves," she says. The landscaper points out that the plant may need support as it grows, especially to maintain its characteristic wavy shape. The Adam's Rib is another plant that stood out in two environments at CASACOR São Paulo 2024: in both Elaine Kalil's and Mônica's gardens, the species' large, jagged leaves stand out in the environments. With the scientific name Monstera Deliciosa , the Rib is a natural climber and, therefore, can benefit from a support to grow vertically. "It can be a tutor or trellis inside the pot, or around it," explains Mônica. Mônica Costa Paisagismo - Vista Xingu. Projeto da CASACOR São Paulo 2024. The species has a similar appearance to the Wavy Philodendrons. In fact, the instructions given by Mônica are the same for both plants: in addition to refusing direct light, both prefer humid environments and should not be exposed to cold drafts or low temperatures. Two other species of Philodendrons were incorporated into the Pátio Brasileiro , a project by Luciana Bacheschi and Gabi Pileggi. The Philodendron Williamsii and the Philodendron Melinonii Rubro are native species that were chosen by the landscapers to pay homage to native vegetation and show how lush flora can integrate outdoor environments.

In the central fountain of the environment, the highlight of the landscaping is two native species of Anthuriums : Anthurium Hookeri and Anthurium Pendulo . According to Luciana, both are also easy-care plants that require little watering. "We were careful to choose plants that are easy to care for and show that there is a lot of beauty in using native plants in our Pátio Brasileiro. In fact, it is easy to have a very beautiful garden, without having to be too careful with the plants", says Luciana. Anthuriums also appear in the Peugeot Garden , by Gil Fialho. The species that the landscaper chose to highlight was the Anthurium Plowmanii the most rustic native species of this botanical genus. Through its gigantic, leathery, dark green leaves, composed of veins and undulations, the plant "attracts the attention of visitors", says Gil. The landscaper adds that Anthuriums tolerate a lack of humidity better than other velvety plants, but reinforces: "Every tropical plant needs a certain amount of humidity in the air." Furthermore, Gil explains that, although the species prefers diffuse light, it can handle days with little sunlight.
