The landscaping of Casa Linho, in Nova Lima (MG), is signed by the firm Flavia D'Urso Paisagismo (from the CASACOR Minas Gerais cast) and is born in direct dialogue with the architecture of the residence, designed by the firm Tetro. Set on a 3,650 m² lot, with 1,300 m² of built area, the house reflects the creative universe of the resident — a businesswoman in the fashion industry —, with references to fabrics, lightness and movement, concepts that also guided the garden design. Based on the experience of living in the property, the need arose to qualify the outdoor spaces, integrating them more consistently with the architecture and the family's daily life.

With clear prominence in the ensemble, the landscaping developed by Flávia D'Urso proposes an organic reading of the terrain, following the topography and creating a fluid landscape, marked by continuous masses, plant volumes and grasses in motion. The garden ceases to be just a complement and starts to act as a structuring element of the experience, promoting warmth, guiding pathways and establishing a constant relationship between interior and exterior.

"After living in the house and planting some species of palm trees and fruit trees, the clients realized the need for landscaping that would dialogue with the architecture and the terrain, resulting in a coherent composition from the early stages of the project," explains the landscaper.

The project responds to the lifestyle of a couple of entrepreneurs with teenage children, who value both social interaction and moments of contemplation. Thus, the garden was designed to be lived on different scales: sometimes as a scenery viewed from inside the house, sometimes as a space for permanence and circulation. The proposal prioritizes a green presence that is balanced and easy to maintain, capable of enhancing the architecture, concealing technical areas and, at the same time, ensuring privacy, thermal comfort and a continuous sense of contact with nature.

The organization of the landscaping starts from the very configuration of the terrain, structured in layers that qualify the different uses. In the access areas, the vegetation guides the gaze and creates a welcoming arrival, with species of greater presence that dialogue with the built volumes. Around the house, the gardens take on a contemplative character, like true living paintings, with organic compositions that explore contrasts of texture, height and density. In the sloped areas, the treatment of the embankments with ground covers and dense masses ensures visual continuity and integration with the natural landscape, in addition to contributing to soil stability.

The language adopted reinforces a contemporary approach to tropical landscaping, in which the design favors plant masses, overlays, and spatial relationships, rather than formal compositions or isolated species. The predominance of green tones creates unity, while the diversity of plant forms and scales gives rhythm and depth to the whole. In all, about 30 species make up the garden, distributed among trees, palm trees, shrubs, and ground covers, forming layers that repeat throughout the land and ensure aesthetic and functional coherence.

Among the highlights, palm trees play a structural role, organizing spatial reading and marking axes and pathways. Large tropical foliage, such as guaimbê, imbé, xanadu, alocasias, and philodendrons, defines the visual identity of the project, creating expressive volumes and reinforcing the feeling of refuge.

In the ground areas, ground covers and dense clusters follow the relief and ensure continuity, while species such as the jabuticaba tree, placed in an easily accessible area, bring the garden closer to everyday use and to the residents' emotional bond. "The distribution of species was planned so that each area of the house maintains a direct relationship with the garden, whether through contemplation, circulation, or direct use, creating an integrated, functional, and sensory landscape," highlights Flávia D'Urso.

More than a static design, the project was conceived as a living landscape that transforms over time. "The landscaping of Casa Linho was designed to integrate with the landscape over time. The choice of species, attention to volumes, and reading of the terrain resulted in a project that values everyday use, contemplation, and the emotional bond with nature," concludes the landscaper.
