Rescuing the work and legacy left by
Burle Marx was the challenge that landscaper
Nãna Guimarães took on for the 25th edition of
CASACOR Minas Gerais . Also responsible for the Jardim das Bromélias project, in addition to collaborating with vertical gardens for other environments, Nãna turned her attention to the restoration of Burle Marx's garden at Palácio das Mangabeiras, which was out of character and was rebuilt with the same species originally chosen by the landscaper. . Installed in an area of 400 m², the garden dates back to the 1950s and establishes an important dialogue with the modernism of the period. Six species guided its reconstruction: Guaimbé, Camará, Bela Emília, Trapoeraba Roxa, Giesta and Agave. “It’s a good opportunity for the public to get to know these plants, which have fallen into disuse over time, but which are beautiful and can create surprising ornamental effects”, comments Nãna.
His other project in the exhibition, Jardim das Bromélias, is also inspired by the landscaping of
Burle Marx who, as an admirer of bromeliads, cataloged 500 species native to Brazil. The environment aims to impact the public with more than 600 plants of 20 different species, such as Imperial Bromeliads, Porto Seguro, Vriesias and Fire-ball.
