Considering that some plants prefer indirect light while others do not, it is necessary to choose the space with the adequate incidence of natural light. Among the possibilities are: living room, kitchen and balcony. It is also important to choose well-ventilated places to install the garden, to avoid mold and excess humidity.

2. Understand how to set it up

As a sustainable alternative, supports can be made from PET bottles or recycled vases. The materials to achieve the best result are diverse, such as steel, iron, concrete, ceramics and wood. Don't forget to choose materials that can withstand humidity if you're outdoors.

As for spaces that have shade or half-shade, boa, fern, zamioculca, peperomia, peace lily and phytonia are preferred. Finally, aromatic herbs (basil, mint, rosemary and chives) are perfect for areas with indirect light or moderate sun. In general, choosing long-lasting species, which require less maintenance, is the best way to maintain a vertical garden.

Resto Garden. Landscape architect Wolfgang Schlögel created a space for socializing and small meals in an internal garden, integrated with other rooms thanks to glass panels. The wooden furniture has been covered in natural leather, along with large Corten steel pots that simulate trees. The vertical garden makes the result more engaging.
Before the final assembly of the vertical garden, it is essential to prepare the soil that will receive your little plants with the use of a light and well-drained substrate. The soil can also be mixed with sand or coconut fiber. A tip to improve drainage is to add a layer of expanded clay or stones to the bottom of the pots.
