Plants , textures and furniture make up the landscaping of Jardim Raízes , which represents a link between architecture and nature in this edition of CASACOR Santa Catarina . By focusing on the memories and experiences that connect each person with their respective roots, the project establishes itself as an
experimental project and symbolizes a window into ancestry — key concept for the composition and choice of natural and raw materials, with suppliers connected to communities and nature's cycles. The design of the project sought to direct the visitor's gaze to the surrounding nature : with emphasis on the views of the North Bay of Santa Catarina Island and the sunset over the sea and hills of Greater Florianópolis
. The result was a set that unites the natural landscape
of the sea waters and the natural sand of João Paulo beach. The spaces range from a created beach, a simple and low-cost solution that rescues the strip of sand
, to rest and leisure environments that provide comfort and bring back fond memories.
The project is characterized by creating collective spaces for connection between environments : a path connects spaces to the plant masses and to the
deck , which gives access to the living room with fire pit, the created beach and the tree corner.
In the living room with fire, the circular fireplace with a contemporary and sober design is the central object of the living room. The fire brings warmth to the outdoor environment next to the chairs made of natural materials. The contemporary furniture on the deck and fireside
are ecologically and socially responsible , and are combined with elements of the ambiance that refer to the sea, the coastal landscape and the diversity of ancestry — products of an elaborate curation. In addition, the pieces reused from fishing and rescued from nature stand out, as well as the cattail rugs in natural fiber and banana fiber and sisal. Organic vases are handmade in a pottery in Minas Gerais . Masses of vegetation frame the spaces, based on the premise of ecological landscaping, where it is essential to favor tropical shrub and herbaceous plant species and native to the Atlantic forest such as philodendrons, Adam's rib, heliconias and xanadus . The project also includes an adult Galician lemon tree and araçazeiro, typical of the coastal region of Santa Catarina, which join the existing palm trees and pitangueira. A green wall lines the back of Jardim Raízes with traditional species of the Brazilian house such as rue, fern, money-in-a-buck and russélias. Amidst the vegetation, a chair made from reused fishing materials invites contact and rest in the midst of nature. The sculpture on a pivoting support made from a section of a rescued tree contrasts with the composition of the covering and background foliage. The choice and composition of vegetation, landscape elements and furniture combine with a lighting project that enhances the garden without causing glare. The light reinforces the verticality of the trees and gives nighttime comfort to the space with elements created specifically for the project. The circulation areas received greater lighting intensity to facilitate visitors' journeys, without causing visual discomfort. In the tree corner, wooden and rope swings were installed. The pieces, commissioned for the project, were designed in different proportions and uses, inviting them to be used in a varied and playful way, to recall the feeling of using this furniture in childhood .
