We’ve already talked about the
best ways to use plants in an apartment and even the
easiest species to care for indoors . But have you ever thought about innovating the way you integrate your plants into your home
decor ? This is what
(many) environments at
CASACOR 2022 propose. The trends are very creative and help to refresh ideas when it comes to setting up your own little corner with style. Curious? Check out
5 different ways to use plants in decoration below
according to CASACOR :
1. Going around the window
Roberta Toledo, Juliana Vervloet do Amaral e Manu Delboni - Sala de Música Natuzzi. Projeto da CASACOR Espírito Santo 2022. (Camila Santos/CASACOR)
Hanging plants such as snake plants, ivy and peperomia are great species to explore in this proposal. Here, the idea is
to use the cascading effect of these plants to surround the window and frame the landscape outside like a living picture. One way to To achieve this effect without damaging the plants, use
small hooks , which will be hidden behind the foliage.
Dinah Lins - Quarto Asas para Voar. Projeto da CASACOR Bahia 2022. (Gabriela Daltro/CASACOR)
Another suggestion is to create a small flowerbed, or even relocate your pots so that they are
hidden behind the window – this way, when you look from inside, you will only be able to see a beautiful composition of plants that follows the dimensions of the window. This way, the proposal is reversed:
it is the window that frames the plants, and not the other way around . In the environment above, architect Dinah Lins opted for the snake plant species.
2. Vases on high!
Primo Arquitetura - Suíte Transversal. Projeto da CASACOR Bahia 2022. (Gabriela Daltro/CASACOR)
No space to accommodate large potted plants on the living room floor? No problem! The idea here is
to raise the plants so that they are above eye level . As a detail, which could go unnoticed, if it weren't for the beautiful
vantage point color that they add to the space.
Clube de Gourmets Evviva, por Studio Architetonika Nomad. Ambiente da CASACOR Paraná 2022. (Patrícia Amancio/CASACOR)
If you want the plant to take up part of the wall, creating a true
vertical garden , a good option is to go for climbing plants. But if the idea is to really create a
raised garden , then plants that cascade are the best option: just raise them up. the vase close to the ceiling, or place it on top of a tall cabinet.
3. Paintings give way to plants
Fabrício Pereira - Ver-O-Verde. Projeto de CASACOR Ceará 2022. (Esdras Guimarães/CASACOR)
(Carolina Mossin/CASACOR)
It's worth
creating supports to house your pots or investing in a real
hanging flower bed : here, the more creative and inventive, the better. In the garden by Uzzo Arquitetura, for example, the supports look like "drawers" that have been opened inside the wall where they are. attached. You can take the idea to another power and apply it in a corridor, for example.
4. A living garden at home
Alva Design e Marina Tadeu - Da Natureza Surreal das Coisas Loja | Galeria. Projeto da CASACOR Minas Gerais 2022. (Jomar Bragança/CASACOR)
This may be the least practical idea to reproduce at home, but it is equally charming. Here, nature is incorporated and embraced in all its particularity – and
chaos , so to speak – in indoor spaces.
Ana Bahia - Sala Gouache. Projeto da CASACOR Minas Gerais 2022. (Henrique Queiroga/CASACOR)
If adding a full-blown lawn to your living room is too much for you, consider creating a microcosm of this idea and letting its wildness run wild in a controlled environment – like a large, shallow pot, for example. How about this beautiful
garden ?
of succulents from Ana Bahia's project?
5. Plant shelf
Ginkgo Paisagismo e Butiá Arquitetura - #Esverdeie. Projeto da CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul 2022 / (Cristiano Bauce/CASACOR)
An empty bookshelf and several pots scattered around the house? The solution is simple: move your plants to the bookshelf and make your home much more organized. The interesting thing here is
to mix species, foliage and sizes – notice how in the space above, by Ginkgo Paisagismo e Butiá Arquitetura, the professionals chose to
hollow out two niches to accommodate a taller vase in the lower left corner of the shelf.

Speaking of mixing things up, choosing
different vases that speak to each other , whether they have complementary colors or similar materials, also makes the shelf much more creative – and gives the impression that you put a lot more effort into putting it together. Other than that, The idea can also be applied to shelves, walls or furniture surfaces.
A very simple concept, but one that can be applied to a wide range of homes .
