The lotus flower is considered an exotic species, and interest in cultivating it has grown a lot. Still, care can be challenging, as the plant requires a large amount of water that cannot be stopped.
The lotus flower grows in shallow water, so it is essential to choose a place with plenty of sunlight and a watery space, such as a pond, a fountain or a large vase of water - the last option, use filtered water. To plant the lotus flower, choose nourishing, loamy soil, which provides the necessary stability for the plant. Avoid using ordinary garden soil, as it may not be suitable for an aquatic environment. The best option is a heavy soil, such as clay, which offers good nutrients and keeps the plant firmly positioned.

Lotus flowers can be grown from seeds or seedlings. If you choose to grow from seeds, you need to prepare them before planting. Place the seeds in warm water for 24 hours to soften the shell, then make a small cut in the seed coat with sandpaper to facilitate germination. Place the seeds in a container of warm water and wait about 10 days for them to germinate. If you opt for seedlings, you can buy them from specialized nurseries. Plant the seedling gently in the prepared soil, ensuring that the roots are firmly attached. Water for the lotus flower needs to be well thought out. It is important not to let the plant sink, as this can compromise its vitality. Always leave the water at a reasonable level that allows your lotus flower to float.
