It's rare to walk into a modern home and not find a veritable urban jungle there. Such is the boom in houseplants , which is transforming homes into true urban oases. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, placing plants indoors can improve the quality of the air, general well-being and productivity . The trend, however, is not just in Brazil – and, instead, it is happening all over the world. That's according to a survey by HouseFresh , which looked at data to find out which plants are most popular in homes in every country in the world . With the data in hand, the portal's designers created a series of global maps showing the plant favorite of each continent.

How was the research carried out?


For the research, HouseFresh used a list of the 230 most popular houseplants on Instagram worldwide, according to data from NeoMam Studios for Budget Direct Home Insurance. The team then gathered monthly Google search volumes for each species in each country, discovering that several species had the same number of searches in the same country.
