With the pandemic, the
desire to get closer to nature has become more evident and should not go away when everything returns to normal.
Biophilic design or biophilic architecture is a concept that expresses this desire and is one of the main highlights of the environments at
CASACOR Paraná 2021 . which takes place until October 17th in Curitiba. This trend, which consists of adding natural elements to spaces, comes from the Greek
bios (life) and
philia (love), that is,
love of life . The principle behind biophilia is very simple:
connecting people and nature to improve the well-being of the environment. -to be .
(Eduardo Macarios/CASACOR)
“Sensitivity, imagination and respect for nature are the basic ingredients of biophilia to add value to any project”, explains
Cynthia Karas , interior designer and creator of
Resto Café , one of the environments at CASACOR Paraná. At the show, professionals chose 5 main ways to add biophilia to their projects. Check them out below!
(Eduardo Macarios/CASACOR)
1. Natural materials and textures
Reproducing the feeling of being in nature through materials is a very efficient tool. The use of
wood, straw, stone, water and other natural elements automatically connects us with the external environment, in addition to the preference for colors in
shades of blue, green and earthy .
2. Biomorphic shapes
When observing nature, we notice the
abundance of rounded shapes . Therefore, biophilic design seeks to reproduce organic shapes or shapes that allude to the shape of natural elements. The use of furniture inspired by nature and
biomorphic print patterns (which imitate the hexagonal pattern of beehives, for example) are also characteristic of the style.
(Eduardo Macarios/CASACOR)
3. Integration of open environments
Biophilia is also represented by the
integration of open spaces , such as the living room with the balcony, for example, with the aim of expanding the space or, in the case of joining the living room with the kitchen, encouraging exchange and coexistence between residents.
Natural light and
air circulation are other elements that bring the desired feeling of well-being, so it is important to prioritize their entry into spaces.
4. Plants
Green walls and roofs are great examples because, in addition to complementing the decoration, they make places more welcoming, adding thermal and acoustic comfort and helping with air quality.
