While the days indoors are longer, the tendency is for us to turn to
gardens, terraces and balconies to enjoy the best of outdoor life. These
essential spaces for contemporary living now take on a new meaning.
How to decorate your balcony
A traditional space for rest and reconnection with nature, balconies require
equally comfortable furniture , which invites you to relax for several hours a day. The balcony functions as an
extension of the living room , so the furniture must be
functional and not restrictive . Check out some ideas below!
A spice garden
At the
Chef de Cozinha Receiving Space , a unique space designed by Marcelo Diniz, Mateus Finzeto and Deise Pucci, the idea was to extend the
vintage kitchen to a covered terrace. The
wooden brise set the tone for the decoration, which included a
garden of spices and vegetables organized on
shelves .
Vertical garden
(Evelyn Muller / CASACOR)
In the outdoor area of
Casa Grão , the beautiful gardens by landscaper
Bia Abreu can be enjoyed through the glass panels or outside, in the planned outdoor
living area . Benches and
armchairs are part of the minimalist decor, which
highlights the greenery – especially the beautiful
vertical garden that brings together different tropical species.
Chaises on the balcony
When it comes to rest, there is nothing better than a series of
chaises arranged on the porch of a
house surrounded by greenery . UP3 Arquitetura's
complete residence for
CASACOR Rio 2021 mixes the Scandinavian way of living with the Rio way, creating an unforgettable experience of
reconnection with nature .
Flexible furniture
In the woods of the Jockey Club in São Paulo,
Marina Linhares' refuge allows connection with the
pre-existing trees and the
natural light , which bathes the entire house. The glass enclosures allow the interior to flow out onto the terrace, where
earthy colors cover the versatile and multifunctional furniture, which
can be rearranged in different ways.
Wide sofas
On the deck overlooking Rio de Janeiro's Guanabara Bay, the Veranda do Cais de Carmen Mouro is like an
outdoor living room . The sophisticated furniture, which
would normally occupy internal spaces , is highlighted in the environment, especially the
wide black sofa , which is supported by a
vertical garden where there are ferns, boa constrictors and Adam's ribs.
Stools and armchairs
(Jomar Bragança / CASACOR)
The
Chef's Ateliê , a space that was part of
CASACOR Minas Gerais , brings together a vegetable garden, gazebo and
relaxed lounge , where the proposal was to leave the
furniture loose throughout the area , distributed in an intuitive and organic way.
Linen is the preferred fabric for the
stools and armchairs that make up the outdoor area. Among the standout pieces are the Painho armchairs, by
Marcelo Rosenbaum , nautical rope poufs and the rug by Elisa Atheniense.
Clean decor
In Bahia, the
Varanda Gourmet by Daniela Lopes brings the
breadth of white to a balcony that integrates a gourmet space, bar, TV and a charming reading corner. Outside, the sumptuous green of the
garden gains even more projection given the clean decoration, which flows without hindrance. The
linen shawls and
freijó give a welcoming atmosphere to the environment.
Lots of wood
In external areas, where solar incidence tends to be greater, it is important to incorporate
elements that filter light , such as brises and
muxarabis , to guarantee thermal comfort. At Balcony Pôr do Sol,
wood was used in panels on the ceiling and walls,
highlighting the greenery and, in addition, leaving the area super fresh and calm.
An extension of the living room
Overlooking Praça Mauá and Guanabara Bay, the two balconies of Oásis Carioca, designed by Claudia Pimenta and Patricia Franco, have
a contemplative vocation . The areas appear as an
extension of the living room – a connection made even through colors, mainly white and raw. The
comfortable furniture , with sofas, rugs and lamps make the outdoor area cozy.
Colors on the balcony
A space for
decompression and peace , the Verdejantes Tempos, Changing Winds balcony... combines all the
comfort of the indoor area with the view from the outside. Here, Mariana Pesca, Elise Lacerda and Ivana Bernart's focus was on furniture that could be used
both inside and outside the home , without compromising either area. The trio opted for a
sea green upholstery that brightens the entire decor.
