As soon as she bought this apartment in Lagoa (RJ), the resident commissioned a renovation and decoration project from architects Adriana Valle and Patricia Carvalho, from the Migs Arquitetura office, and the landscaping was entrusted to the landscape architect Anna Luiza Rothier – all part of the CASACOR Rio de Janeiro team.

"Overall, the client requested tropical gardens in small areas of the apartment to give it a homey feel," says Rothier, who utilized monstera, peperomia, raphis, fern, mini palm, viburnum, neomarica, sword plant, pleomele, liriope, asparagus, pothos, Syngonium, and bromeliads.

Since the property is on the first floor, right above the garage, the lateral prism area of the building was incorporated into the master bedroom during the renovation to create a winter garden, measuring 25 m². The new space was protected by a metal cover painted black (with internal closure made of open-weave natural fiber fabric) and furnished with a slatted wood bench fixed to the wall, two outdoor armchairs, a vertical garden, and a mirror on one wall to make the vegetation appear even more lush.

On the side of the balcony integrated into the living room, Rothier installed a vertical garden on a floor-to-ceiling wooden trellis, with a mirrored background and shelves supporting 12 planters. "For the front part of the balcony, which composes the main facade of the building, we designed a low continuous linear planter along the glass railing, with vegetation that blends into the tree canopies," concluded landscape architect Anna Luiza Rothier.
