Viva Magenta is Pantone's Color of the Year 2023

It's already a tradition: as one year transitions into the next, a series of behavioral studies outline the main style trends for the coming year. And this time it was no different! The color experts at Pantone have just announced Viva Magenta (PANTONE 18-1750) as the Color of the Year for 2023.

“In this age of technology, we seek inspiration from nature and what is real. PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta comes from the red family and is inspired by cochineal red, one of the most precious shades belonging to the natural dye family, as well as as one of the strongest and brightest the world has ever known,” details Leatrice Eiseman , executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

Considered a hybrid color , Viva Magenta straddles the physical and virtual , opening doors to Pantone’s “Magentaverse” project, a collaborative multisensory exhibition in partnership with Artechouse that features immersive rooms inspired by Viva Magenta. 06/09 - PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery: A fresh, modern, yellow-green hue that recalls the first days of spring, when the greens in nature are renewed with new foliage. It also reflects the consumer's desire for deep breathing and a life outdoors. (Pantone )

07/09 - PANTONE 15-3919 Serenity and PANTONE 13-1520 Rose Quartz: Coinciding with social movements towards gender equality and fluidity, for the first time, a blend of two colors has been chosen. Together, they evoke the balance between a welcoming pink and a cooler, calmer light blue, reflecting the connection between well-being and a calm sense of order and peace. (Pantone)

08/09 - PANTONE 18-1438 Marsala: "This bold yet elegant shade has universal appeal and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design and home décor," Pantone explained in its release.
