The vehicle had been donated by the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) to the Sorocabana Railway Preservation Movement Association (MPF – Sorocaba). It was used as a luggage car until the 1980s, and was one of the first built with 100% national technology. When Shehtman rescued it, the car was covered in graffiti and very rusty. According to the president of the MPF – Sorocaba association Paulo Sérgio Vieira Filho, the train also had no braking system and was next to wagons that were set on fire. “At a time when there is so much talk about recovering, preserving and reinventing, we decided to renovate a train carriage and show how we can give new uses to what many consider to be 'trash' or 'disposable'. To show how 'beauty' can emerge from from any place and any situation, this project tries to show that it is possible to reuse structures and have comfort and practicality in small spaces”, explains Shehtman. In
a total area of 40 m², the architect was inspired by the Art Deco aesthetic, in addition to relying on the straight and spherical lines of geometric figures and drawings from nature, and presented a loft with a living room, bathroom, a dining room and kitchen. , in an integrated and fluid way. After the exhibition, the wagon
was transported to Paula Souza Station, in the center of Sorocaba, as part of the dynamic railway museum and now the car will become a movie theater! The "Cine Vagão" action, which has the support of the Railway Preservation Movement Association of Trecho Sorocabana (MPF-Sorocabana) – a non-profit organization dedicated to the memory of railways – will transform the historic carriage into a movie theater, where films with themes linked to the railway universe will be shown. The film sessions will take place at night, with the aim of promoting the city's railway history, as the population will be able to watch films inside one of Sorocaba's main historical symbols. The project is scheduled to begin next August. . To this end,
the aesthetic restoration of the equipment, including painting with its original characteristics, was carried out in 90 days, through the voluntary labor of around 15 members of the association.
