A unique date like the 30th anniversary of
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro could only be celebrated in an equally special place. This will be the case for the 2021 edition of the traditional Rio de Janeiro exhibition, which will be housed in a 19th-century mansion next to the Botanical Garden, which houses some of the relics of its former owners, the couple Jorge and Odaléa Brando Barbosa.
The residence, which covers over 2,000 square meters, was donated by Odaléa to the São Paulo Museum of Sacred Art in 2015. With its eclectic style and full of Baroque elements, the Brando Barbosa Palace is considered one of the most beautiful and well-preserved in the city. The highlights include the Carrara marble floors in the halls and the large windows that open onto the lush gardens. Priceless objects, such as the chandelier in the entrance hall – which has its counterpart in the Palace of Versailles – are part of the interior design.
"We have a history of hosting
CASACOR in iconic properties in the city and we wanted to do something really special for the 30th anniversary. This mansion is a hidden gem in the city and probably the most beautiful we have ever occupied," says Patricia Mayer, organizer of
CASACOR Rio .
Next to the Botanical Garden, the mansion was built on a 12,000 square meter plot of land surrounded by native Atlantic Forest plant species. The gardens are a true invitation to contemplation – not surprisingly, there will be shops, food and social areas there, ensuring that
CASACOR Rio visitors can enjoy the event safely, following all the health protocols of the World Health Organization.
The
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 30th anniversary special will take place from March 2nd to May 9th, 2021. In addition to the in-person exhibition, which will take place with pre-scheduled visits and limited audience per space, this edition innovates by bringing for the first time a digital exhibition, with presentations, videos and 3D tours that will show every corner of the spaces created by the architects, designers and landscapers of the cast.
