Estação Livre , a program on TV Cultura that values black culture and diversity in Brazil, has gained a new segment, which will continue throughout December. Called Arquitetura Afro-brasileira , the space created in partnership with Tintas Coral is curated by the Instituto de Fomento à Arquitetura Afro-brasileira and addresses, in weekly episodes, important themes in this segment. “It is extremely gratifying for us to have the presence of these women on a program like Estação Livre, which has established itself over time as a space for celebrating and discussing issues affecting the black population in Brazil . The integration of this with the positioning of important brands – such as Coral – will certainly amplify this space even further,” says Eneas Pereira, Programming Director and Executive VP of TV Cultura.

In the first episode, viewers learn about the Black Architects Project , which recently founded the Institute for the Promotion of Afro- Brazilian Architecture. Gabriela de Matos, Audrey Carolini and Thamires Mendes talk about the project's first steps, its achievements in five years of existence, expectations and plans for the future.

Spaces to give voice and discuss the importance of greater female and black representation gain even more relevance when surveys such as the one carried out by the Brazilian Council of Architecture and Urbanism (CAU/BR), in 2020, show that only 4.33% of architects and urban planners self-declare as black , while 78.14% call themselves white. The same research showed that 27% of unemployed architects and urban planners are black women , just as black female architects suffer 16 times more sexual harassment in the workplace and their salary income is almost half of what a white man earns. Launched in March 2021, the program is hosted by Cris Guterres , a journalist and entrepreneur considered by Forbes Brazil magazine to be one of the most innovative content creators of 2020. Estação Livre airs on Fridays, starting at 10 pm, with a rerun on Saturdays, at 6 am, on TV Cultura . The program can also be seen on YouTube .
