Installed on December 1, 2017, Tesla's super battery, located in South Australia, has shown significant and successful results in the areas of economy and sustainability in one year of operation. The
largest lithium-ion battery in the world (occupies an area of 10 thousand square meters), and named Hornsdale Power Reserve , has 100 megawatts of power, cost 66 million dollars to build, its assembly took only 54 days and can supply power to 30 thousand homes. It is expected that, with this profit obtained, the technology will pay for itself within two years of operation.
The secret is that the project's maintenance costs are minimized. According to a study
commissioned by Neoen and conducted by the company Aurecon , it was possible to carry out the maintenance of the electrical grid spending 75% less than in previous years. In addition to this benefit, the super battery has proven to be ecological, as it does not generate carbon emissions, unlike common energy, which is created from the use of fossil fuels.
