It was from the need for inclusion and female empowerment in the job market and, mainly, in communities that the Coral Mulheres na Cor emerged, a project created by AkzoNobel that brings together companies with the common goal of transforming female stories through professionalization. The program, which began in June, will provide knowledge and training to women in vulnerable situations, so that they have better conditions when seeking job opportunities. The first pilot class will train 16 women as professional decorative painters in the city of São Paulo. Considering the segment to which this group of the Women in Color Choir is aimed, according to research carried out in December 2021 by Abrapp , the Brazilian Association of Professional Painters, they represent only 10.5% of the entity's members, which shows that this It is a market in which women are still seeking greater representation and have a lot to contribute. “We have committed to a global goal of ensuring at least 30% female presence in executive positions by 2025. The target audience for the initiative are women over 18 years of age, with a minimum education level of 4th grade of elementary school, unemployed or with an income of up to one minimum wage, who are heads of households with dependents of school age. To support participants throughout the three-month journey, the Women in Color Choir has a partnership with Fazendinhando , a territorial, cultural and social transformation movement that seeks to develop the community of Jardim Colombo and its surroundings, a population of approximately 15 thousand residents, in an area of almost 15 hectares that is part of the Paraisópolis Complex , in the South Zone of São Paulo. The NGO supported the campaign to promote the program locally and attract women with the desired profile, helped with selection and registration and is the project's relationship pillar, a link between the companies and the participants. “We are very happy with the partnership in this project, as it will benefit women in vulnerable situations who will now find new paths and possibilities to make their dreams come true. The majority are unemployed: in Jardim Colombo, 73% of residents are unemployed. from the formal job market, are heads of families and seek opportunities. This will be the beginning of important connections , technical knowledge, female empowerment and potentialization of talented hands that fight daily”, says Ester Carro , architect and urban activist, president of the NGO . For ten weeks , these women will receive a complete course with 360º knowledge about painting, totaling more than 200 hours. During the course, participants will receive a grant , transportation, food, uniform and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) paid for by the supporting companies.
