One of the most traditional and lively neighborhoods in the
capital of São Paulo has a new Sesc to call its own! Activities began in October, at number 285 on Rua Dr. Plínio Barreto, in
Bela Vista – close to Av. 9 de Julho.
Named
Sesc 14 Bis , the unit will have an exhibition space and space for
physical and sports activities , play spaces, reading spaces and multiple uses for
cultural workshops, experiences, chats and open classes . Completing the list are a
library, cafeteria, Sesc store and a large public square .
(Matheus José Maria/CASACOR)
The space currently has three floors: the ground floor and two floors above. The traditional
Raul Cortez Theater has been revamped and will open on the second floor with a capacity of
513 seats - one of the largest among Sesc units in the capital.
(Matheus José Maria/CASACOR)
On the
ground floor is where the common area is located: a large space with double height ceilings that provides a dialogue between the internal and external environments. There is also a
reading area, a library and a cafeteria . The
first floor has a generous 1,800 m² to host various activities such as open classes, meetings and workshops for physical-sports, technology and arts and socio-educational programs.
Retractable structures with
mobile walls in a sliding system allow different activities to be carried out simultaneously, all with free access and open to the public of all ages. The
second floor is entirely dedicated to hosting the Raul Cortez Theater – a space for shows, concerts and more.
