The world's largest furniture trade fair, Milan Design Week 2020, is suffering from the setbacks of COVID-19. Last Friday (27), the organizers announced that its main event, Salone del Mobile , has been suspended and will now take place between April 13th and 18th, 2021. While the latest developments in the sector are still far from our calendar, we have selected the most incredible events and launches that have taken place in Milan in recent years and listed them below for you to remember. Check them out! The best of Milan Design Week 2017 chosen by CASACOR In 2017, the CASACOR editorial team selected the highlights of MDW that year. Among our 20 favorites are Tom Dixon, Nendo and Pierre Cardin — names that were absolute hits that week. In the photo, the Objets Nomades collection by Louis Vuitton , which gained 10 new items signed by designers such as the Campana brothers, Nendo and Patricia Urquiola. Check it out at the link ! Milan 2016: Nendo creates installation with manga-inspired chairs The Japanese studio exhibited an installation with 50 metal chairs in the Chiostro Minore di San Simpliciano. Below them, there was only a large white square, which highlighted the inspiration from the abstract lines of manga from the end of the 19th century. Campana and Melissa brothers create recycled crochet sculpture at MDW2019 Measuring two meters in height, the sculpture designed by the Campana brothers was produced using more than 17,000 recycled PVC threads from Melissa shoes and accessories. The transformation of the plastic into crochet fabric took place in partnership with 20 national collectives and artists, such as the NGO Projeto Arrastão, the NGO Ponto firme and the musician Seu Jorge, check it out . MINI presents shared apartment model at MDW 2016 The MINI car brand presented a model of shared housing at MDW 2016. The installation, designed by architects from ON design, featured a 30 m² apartment, which would be part of a micro-neighborhood within a large residential building, check it out . Tokujin and LG Bring the Bright Future to MDW 2017 LG debuted at Milan Design Week in 2017 with the installation S.F_Senses of the Future, in partnership with Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka. Like a futuristic dream that immersed itself in light and technology, the installation consisted of 17 glowing chairs, made from ultra-thin OLED panels — a type of light source that created illumination across a surface rather than a point. Moooi presents new pieces under the theme “A Life Extraordinary” Mooi's A Life Extraordinary exhibition brought an extraordinary atmosphere to MDW 2017, exploring the world of interiors with more than 20 projects by designers such as Maarten Baas, Joost van Bleiswijk, Rick Tegelaar, Luca Nichetto, Bertjan Pot, Frank Tjepkema, Edward van Vliet and Marcel Wanders. See more here . MDW 2017: Sculptural tree blooms with mist bubbles Swedish clothing brand COS presented an unusual experiment at MDW 2017. Created by Studio Swine, the installation consisted of a tree-like structure from which bubbles emerged, dissolving into white mist and exploding. Like a reinterpretation of the traditional cherry trees, the one called New Spring, were six meters tall. Read more . Zipper reveals interior of Alex Chinneck's MDW2019 exhibition Under Alex Chinneck's disruptive vision, the architectural installation took on the appearance of a piece of art under the symbol of the zipper, which opened towards the interior of the building. The ethereal and immersive atmosphere was reinforced by a soft light, which leaked through the openings left by the zipper.
