With 322 m², the floor of the new BMW Melt showroom is the highlight of the place and attracts the attention of those who enter the store. Designed by Patricia Urquiola and manufactured by the brand Aectual, the covering combines the latest technology with a design surprising.
The large 3D printed frame allows for free-form shapes that appear to be hand-drawn, like Urquiola’s spiral illustrations. This covering was transported to the site where the floor was laid and filled with a mixture of marble chips in a bio-based binding agent.
“I liked the idea of applying a new technique to create what you could call a new territory within the space,” Urquiola explained. The showroom has cars and salon areas, with original artwork by Urquiola.
