CASACOR Minas Gerais 2017 will have a different project. The show will welcome GUAJA, a coworking café that brings together an entrepreneurial and creative community, to occupy the 420 m² of the third floor of the building that will host this year's event. This temporary location has been named GUAJA Sapucaí .
In addition to hosting the venue's cultural program, GUAJA Sapucaí will also be a space for work and collaborative experiences. The curation of the CASACOR & Conversa program, which has been running since 2014 and involves a series of events focused on the areas of architecture, design and creativity, will also be handled by GUAJA. To design the space, architects Lucas Durães and Sarah Kubitschek invited three other professionals: Gabriel Nardelli, Marcos Franchini and Pedro Haruf.
The idea is that, when going up to the top floor of the building on Rua Sapucaí, the visitor (normally a spectator) leaves his passive position to become an active participant. To this end, an ephemeral laboratory will be set up that will bring together all the conditions so that the processes of discussion and construction of the space can take place in their entirety. In addition to participating in the design process for the space, participants will also manufacture the elements needed to occupy GUAJA Sapucaí . In partnership with Fábrica Jangada , a CNC (computer numerical control) cutting machine will be installed on site. Before the inauguration of CASACOR , five digital manufacturing workshops will be held, led by Denis Fuzii, Rafael Cordeiro and the architects of GUAJA. Registration for the first of these is now open. Learn more about the program and sign up! DIGITAL MANUFACTURING WORKSHOP In the first workshop, you will have three days of intense practice, designing and developing a piece of furniture to be cut on the CNC Router. The piece will be used during the 37 days of the event and at the end, you will take it home!
Class 3 | Hands on — Execution This is where the magic of digital manufacturing happens. Using the file generated the day before, the CNC Router will cut the sheet metal and transform it into furniture. Isn't that great? Monitoring and finalizing each participant's files. Cutting your furniture directly with the local maker , upon appointment. All materials and CNC hours are included in the workshop price.
