The state of Paraná will be the first in Brazil to receive the construction of a power generation station using sewage and organic waste, a biogas generation plant, which transforms waste into electricity to supply homes in the region.
Europe is a pioneer in the production of biogas from biodigestion, with around 14,000 plants. Germany alone has 8,000 units. In Brazil, biogas still has a small share in the energy matrix and is counted together with other biofuels such as sugarcane bagasse, constituting biomass, responsible for 8.8% of the energy generated in the country.
