Museums in São Paulo reopen following social distancing rules
Pinacoteca, Japan House, Instituto Moreira Sales and MASP return with exhibitions after 7 months closed due to the pandemic

At the end of September, the 24th, the mayor of São Paulo, Bruno Covas, signed the protocol that allowed museums to resume their activities in October. The program, with new exhibitions, should be visited following the list of precautions to avoid contagion of the Corona Virus, including the purchase of tickets, which must be done online, with a scheduled time, and the mandatory use of a mask.

The Pinacotecaresumes its activities with the exhibition Hudnilson Jr.: explicit (which took place before the pandemic) and two new exhibitions: OSGEMEOS: Secret , by artists Otávio and Gustavo Padolfo— whoparticipate in a Live with Jochen Volz, director of the Pinacoteca and curator of the exhibition; and Joan Jonas: Five Decades , the first solo exhibition in South America by the pioneer of video art and performance. https://www.instagram.com/p/CGM9T-uCmDT/
On Avenida Paulista, the Moreira Sales Institute returns today with three exhibitions: the Peter Scheier Archive brings together approximately 35 thousand images by the German photographer Peter Scheier (1908-1979), taken between the 1940s and 1970s. Now or Never – return : Audiovisual Landscapes by Maureen Bisilliat presents for the first time an exhibition of the audiovisual production of the 89-year-old photographer, with extracts from 12 videos. Paz Errázuriz is the first major retrospective of the artist, covering her main photographic series. The focus is on the records ofpeople and spaces that, for various reasons, were displaced to the margins of society, some even repressed by the State for transgressing the rules in force.
Still on Avenida Paulista, another museum returns to the public today. MASP brings 4 new exhibitions: Hélio Oiticica: dance in my experience brings the works of one of the most radical artists of the 20th century, in the panorama of Brazilian and international art; Trisha Brown: Choreographing Life is the first solo exhibition in South America dedicated to the pioneering North American choreographer, dancer and artist, Trisha Brown. It includes works produced between 1963 and 2005; Senga Nengudi: Topologies , is an exhibition dedicated to the work of the Afro artist -American Senga Nengudi (Chicago, 1943), a central figure in the vibrant African-American art scene in Los Angeles in the 1970s and 1980s; Video Room: Babette Mangolte , this is a selection of films focusing on dance and body movement. Finally, the ever-present Acervo em Transformação remains after the pandemic, offering visitors the opportunity to see MASP’s beautiful collection the way its architect, Lina Bo Bardi, intended, on glass easels.

Japan House
Japan House reopens on Tuesday the 20th with two new exhibitions: The Fabulous Universe of Tomo Koizumi , which showcases pieces by the renownedJapanese fashion designer, who was featured at New York Fashion Week 2019. On the second floor of the institution will be Japan , with works by the authorial photographer Naoki Ishikawa, whose work is based on the recording of diverse landscapes of the Pacific archipelagos through expeditions he carries out throughout the country.
