One of the most anticipated moments of the year is here: the
inauguration of CASACOR Rio de Janeiro , an exhibition that
opens the CASACOR calendar in 2022 and that, until June 26, keeps the doors of Residência Brando Barbosa open to the public, an iconic mansion where the event is being held for the second consecutive year. In total, there are
45 spaces : 22 of them located inside the main house and 23 outside, which bring together
a gastronomic complex , commercial areas and Vila CASACOR, one of the new features of the year. All this in a
beautiful property with more than 12 thousand m² of area.

1. A new look
The iconic property that is home to CASACOR Rio for the second year running,
Residência Brando Barbosa has taken on a
much more contemporary look this year. If last year the property's
palatial feel was the highlight, in 2022 it will have a completely different feel: The house is presented as a
cultural institute , a place dedicated to the arts, meetings and
always with its doors open to the city and its residents . Get ready to see spaces such as
Sala DA Música , by Tiago Freire;
Espaço Soul , by Rodrigo Barbosa (a kind of projection room) or
Estar do Pátio , by Mauricio Nóbrega – designed as a meeting space.
2. Art in the Metaverse
Always very present in the environments of the Rio de Janeiro show, this year the
visual arts are truly a spectacle apart. At
BamˈBo͞o Bar , by Gisele Taranto, they appear in different ways:
the house's swimming pool was transformed into an installation by Maritza Caneca, and has holograms in its surroundings. Through the bamboo grove, it is possible to see
works in augmented reality accessible via QR Codes; and there is even a virtual exhibition of generative art available only in a
gallery created in the Metaverse . The space also features the
Olhar 2022 exhibition , which brings together works by Carlos Vergara and young people from the outskirts selected by the artist. And there is still much more to see there, such as the work Biblioteca, by Nelson Leirner, which is in
Sala DA Music ; and the
EXPO space , by Cristiana and Mariana Mascarenhas, which pays homage to Rubem Gerchman and brings works by artists from different generations. A bold and thought-provoking mix.
3. CASACOR Village
Diego Raposo e Manuela Simas - SPA DECA. Uma ilha de encontro e relaxamento. Um espaço dedicado ao bem-estar e às memórias sensoriais. O SPA DECA surge no jardim dividido em quatro tempos: Descompressão, para aproveitar a natureza; Skin-Care, para os cuidados pessoais e contemplação; Banho, para a conexão pessoal; e Hamman, para refletir e recarregar as energias. Ambientes fluidos, sem muitas divisões, e o uso de materiais naturais trazem o mood casual-chic ao projeto, que tem ainda lançamentos da Deca desenhados por Arthur Casas. (André Nazareth/CASACOR)
With studios ranging from 28m² to 80m²,
Vila CASACOR occupies part of the house’s gardens with a new proposal: to
welcome resident artists in spaces created in metal modules with thermoacoustic treatment . The constructions, which are fast, clean and sustainable, can be dismantled – and in fact, they will be, after the end of the exhibition – and reassembled with the same format in another plot of land. And, each one, brings the personality of its creators. There are seven in all: four “residential”, a store, in addition to the
DECA SPA and from
Pavilion 22 .
4. Gastronomy
Erick Figueira de Mello - Espaço Figueira. O que um dia foi a garagem e a área de serviço da Residência Brando Barbosa ganhou nova vocação com a CASACOR Rio: a de complexo gastronômico. E, este ano, os vários ambientes (restaurante, wine bar, salad bar e pizzaria) estão sob a batuta de um único arquiteto, que apostou na brasilidade de materiais clássicos e atemporais: vime, palha, cestaria brasileira, faux bambu, ladrilhos hidráulicos. In addition to the drinks at BamˈBo͞o Bar, there will be, for the first time, a
gastronomic complex at CASACOR Rio:
Espaço Figueira , designed by Erick Figueira de Melo. With a restaurant, wine bar,
salad bar and pizzeria, the complex will be operated by
Cooking Buffet , by Adriana Mattar and Ana Cecília Gros and promises many new features.
5. The gardens
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro will take place from April 27th to June 26th at Residência Brando Barbosa. Just like last year,
the show is hybrid , with an in-person version and a digital version, with 3D tours available right here on the website!
