At
Milan Design Week 2024 , the union between the worlds of fashion and lighting is reflected in the new
LOEWE Luminaires line, a collection of 24 pieces designed by various artists for the Spanish luxury fashion house. The new products - which come in floor, table and hanging models - will be on display at
Palazzo Citterio from 15 to 21 April 2024.
The new products explore the properties of light with materials ranging from
supple bamboo to leather, ceramics, glass and bronze. Highlights include a pendant lamp by
Genta Ishizuka , winner of the 2019 LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Award, which evokes an amorphous organic cell.
Renowned ceramicist
Dame Magdalene Odundo surprises with a pendant lamp made from leather, a material not often used in her work.
Enrico David presents a table lamp that encapsulates his fascination with the human form, while
Hafu Matsumoto demonstrates her skill with bamboo with a woven table lamp.
Alvaro Barrington and
Zizipho Poswa bring elements of their personal experiences into their creations, resulting in lamps that evoke cultural memories and rituals. The full list of participating artists includes talents from around the world, including
Venezuela, the United Kingdom, Italy, South Africa, Germany, Japan, and more. In addition to the lighting fixtures, Loewe will be offering an
exclusive collection of homewares at MDW, including ikebana vases and paperweights, all created in collaboration with the artists featured in the exhibition. The pieces are available exclusively at Palazzo Citterio and the Loewe Montenapoleone store, along with a selection of limited-edition candles created especially for the event.
