Architect Mauricio Arruda , renowned for his keen eye for Brazilian design and craftsmanship and his charisma on television, is opening Mauricio Arruda Casa , or, for those close to him, MAU . The store brings together hand-picked decorative items and furniture, design objects with a strong national identity, and original pieces signed by Mauricio throughout his career. Located in the Santa Cecília neighborhood, the store will open its doors on November 21, 2024, inviting the public to immerse themselves in the tropical world designed by Arruda . MAU represents the realization of a long-held dream of Mauricio: to bring together, in one space, everything that inspires him and reflects his passion for Brazilian design and craftsmanship. He has always wanted to create a place that offers a curation of pieces that celebrate the riches of Brazil. "MAU is a place to search , be inspired and find pieces with history and personality," reveals the architect. The store's collection includes furniture collected by Mauricio during his travels throughout Brazil. In recent months, he has also visited artisans from various regions, with the aim of not only selecting pieces for MAU, but also collaborating with these masters, creating new stories and giving more people the privilege of getting to know the riches produced in the country . In addition, the space features a selection of decorative objects, works of art and Mauricio's own creations , such as lamps, armchairs and tables. And also collected and restored furniture!
MAU has entered into a partnership with Oficina Francisco Brennand . This means that the public of São Paulo will have access to a complete selection of the ceramist's works , directly from his studio in Recife. Sculptures, panels and ceramics that represent Brennand's universe will be available for purchase. The initiative contributes to the dissemination of Brennand's artistic legacy and positions MAU as the store in São Paulo with the largest variety of his works. To complete the experience, MAU shares the space with Retropy , a clothing brand inspired by the Rio de Janeiro lifestyle. The brand is influenced by Rio's architecture, art, fashion and design. To add even more flavor to the space, there is Cuscuz da Irina , which offers the best of the plurality of Northeastern cuisine, with a menu created by the powerful Rio Grande do Norte chef Irina Cordeiro , who participated in Masterchef Profissionais in 2017. These collaborations reinforce MAU's commitment to offering pieces with history and unique design . "My dream is for MAU to be more than just a store, a place for lovers of design and Brazilian culture to find inspiration. A laboratory where Brazilian craftsmanship, scouting and design meet ," concludes Mauricio.
