In a world where digital interconnection reigns, paradoxically, many feel a genuine disconnection with themselves, with others and with nature. While technology facilitates relationships , it also distances us from true presence . In this context, art emerges as an anchor for the present moment , and this is how Marina Abramović , a world leader in artistic performance, inaugurated her first work in a space open to the public in Brazil at the Usina de Arte in Pernambuco in early February. Generator is an exploration of the relationship between humans and natural elements , using Brazilian stones and crystals, especially rose quartz from Minas Gerais. With a 25-meter-long wall, the work invites the public to interact by placing their heads, hearts and stomachs against the stones, which are known to transmit calm and clarity. Abramović proposes this interaction as a way to restore our connection with nature and the present , amidst a turbulent world. (Andréa Rêgo Barros / CASACOR)

"We live in a time of wars, violence, poverty and global warming. Rapid technical development has distanced us from nature and we have lost the ability to use intuition, telepathy and remember our dreams. We have lost our spiritual center," explains Marina Abramović.
The collaboration between Abramović and Usina de Arte represents a union between the history of the site and the artistic vision of the renowned artist, solidifying Usina’s role as a dynamic and inclusive cultural hub. This initiative not only enriches the local community, but also contributes to the global dialogue on art , nature and spirituality .
