The Okavango Delta region in Botswana (a country located in the south of the African continent), considered one of the seven natural wondersof the African continent , was the area chosen by the Nicholas Plewman Architects office to design the luxurious Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge hotel with 24 rooms.

The inspiration for biomimeticarchitecture came from studies of the pangolin, a species of African armadillo that hides and protects itself from danger in its scaly shell.
In keeping with the original country house, built years ago and considered a World Heritage Site, the firm had to follow strict sustainability criteria in the construction of the hotel, which included the exclusive use ofbiodegradable materials and renewable energy (solar) in 70% of the hotel. and biological treatment of effluents.

Almost the entire structure of the space is made of wood . The beams are made of laminated pine and the roofs and floors are made of FSC-certified wood.

In terms of sustainability, the project's success is also measured by the constant visits of wild animals such as elephants, hippos and lions, which do not seem to be bothered by the construction.
