Artistic calendars have always been part of world culture. From the most acclaimed and famous ones, such as those signed by Pirell i , to those of the priests of the Catholic Church, made by the Vatican itself, they have always been a way of presenting art outside of museums and galleries . Navigating these waters, photographer Ed Beltrão announces the launch of his latest visual project, the Bahia calendar, a subtle essay . Recognized for his previous work, the 2021 book Temperança , Beltrão once again captivates the public with a collection of images that capture the essence of Bahia in a unique way.

Inspired by Pierre Verger's iconic calendar , which is housed in the museum that bears the renowned photographer's name, the calendar seeks to convey the cultural depth of the region . The selected images bring to life the beauty and authenticity of Bahia, revealing subtle nuances that often go unnoticed , captured through Ed's dozens of trips to Bahia, the land of his inspiring muse, Bel Madureira de Pinho , and home to the fantastic imagination of millions of people in Brazil and around the world.

“These images of mine were the result of brief but profound immersions in the magic of the Brazilian and Bahian soul . I was drawn to the vigor of nature, the colors and the beauty that captivate the eyes and hearts of those who take on the challenge of immortalizing moments of these landscapes,” Ed Beltrão tells us.

“But wouldn’t printed wall calendars be a more detailed perception of time in relation to the urgency of today’s digital devices? Contemplating each of these twelve images, month by month, can have the power to remind us, in the sum of the days, that life is to be lived intensely. If possible, in Bahia”, declares Éder Chiodetto.

Production will be limited to just 350 copies . The project is sponsored by Spinelli Advogados, which is helping to make this innovative project a reality.
