The project
Malbec Malbec, designed by the
FGMF office – from the cast of
CASACOR – for the Santa Catarina company
ABF Vaccaro, was the grand winner of the
LOOP Design Awards 2025 in the
Residential building concepts category, one of the most competitive and prestigious categories of the global award. This year's edition had over 550 projects submitted from 49 different countries.
Inspired by the world of wine and all the symbolism it carries, time, celebration, sensoriality, and memory, Malbec Malbec is located in Praia Brava, Itajaí (SC), and proposes a unique style. Its central concept, "life in great style," guides the decisions of the project, designed for authentic experiences, such as the
wine bar, ocean-view
rooftop, and an underground cellar for private tastings.
Rodrigo Marcondes Ferraz, partner at FGMF, explains that the presence of wine also unfolds into exclusive partnerships, such as the lifetime agreement with the Argentine winery
Bodega Sottano, responsible for curating the labels of La Cava, the private cellar underground, and sealing the authenticity of the project with contemporary architecture. "The landscaping, created by Inflorescência and its renowned professionals in the area, brings the atmosphere of the Mendoza vineyards to the Santa Catarina coast, with species and volumes that evoke the scenery of the grape fields. The common spaces, such as the
rooftop and the
wine bar, were designed to promote gatherings, celebrations, and contemplation, reinforcing the symbolism of wine as a catalyst for experiences," highlights Rodrigo.
"These elements, combined with the powerful
storytelling surrounding wine, position the project as a reference not only in Brazil but also in an increasingly global market oriented towards
lifestyle concepts," concludes Rodrigo Marcondes. The LOOP Design Awards is recognized for bringing together an international jury made up of architects, designers, photographers, and critics from various nationalities. Malbec Malbec stood out for its ability to translate the theme of wine into a cohesive and sophisticated architectural language, creating spaces that celebrate not only living but also experiencing.
