The 17th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale , which began on May 22 and will continue until November 21, 2021, will feature the participation of the Instituto Favela da Paz , a Brazilian social project that integrates architecture , art and sustainability . This involves the construction of the new headquarters of the Instituto Favela da Paz - IFP and the requalification of its surroundings in the Jardim Ângela neighborhood, in the extreme south of the city of São Paulo.

Urban requalification focuses on stimulating a sense of belonging in the local community, raising awareness that public space belongs to everyone and that it is important to understand it as an environment to be cared for , renewed and preserved .
“With new technological tools , art, design and sustainable strategies, we integrate the favela into the city in order to reduce the paralyzing discrimination that exists there and break the dividing line that marginalizes those who are on the side of the favela, to the side of the city”, he explains. the architect who is leading this proposal, Patrícia O'Reilly .

With the theme " Transforming the Utopia of the Favela into a Reality ", the objective of this project is to offer an urban space conducive to the training of a sustainable workforce and income generation . The model can be replicated in other regions of the country and internationally.

The headquarters is being designed to, among other things, integrate nature into the city . The green walls and green roofs will capture rainwater for reuse in the headquarters itself to serve various functions, such as irrigating native landscaping and cultivating vegetable gardens. .
