Companies invest in solidarity actions to combat the pandemic

With the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil, the life we were used to was completely transformed. In just a few weeks, our way of living, working and socializing was drastically impacted, as was the business world. People and companies needed to adapt quickly to the new world order: saving as many lives as possible. In this scenario, the country has taken on another priority: preserving as many lives as possible. In addition to individual actions that have an impact at the local level, several initiatives are making a difference in Brazil's fight against the pandemic. Brazil's three largest private banks – Bradesco, Itaú and Santander – will jointly import and donate 5 million rapid COVID-19 detection tests, as well as medical equipment such as CT scanners and respirators. These materials are essential for support doctors and hospitals in treating the disease. Banco Safra , after breaking record profits in 2019, announced the donation of R$20 million to public hospitals and Santas Casas. The funds will be used to purchase medical equipment and supplies and to expand hospital beds. Industrial conglomerates around the world are transforming their production lines to manufacture respirators, the most scarce and necessary equipment during this crisis. In Brazil, GM, Embraer and SENAI are leading the effort to meet the demand for equipment that the original companies are not able to supply. Other companies, such as Ambev, have modified their production chain to manufacture alcohol gel. Decathlon , a multinational sports equipment brand, with the help of the company Isinnova and an Italian doctor, has developed a way to transform its Easybreath diving masks into respirators. The 3D printed adapter was patented so that there would be no speculation about its price and The printable file was made available to several factories and hospitals. In Brazil, the brand donated its entire stock of the product to medical entities.

In the decoration market, Breton equipped the decompression room for workers at the Field Hospitals installed at the Pacaembu and Anhembi stadiums. The room will accommodate doctors, physiotherapists, nutritionists, psychologists, x-ray technicians and support professionals. as service assistants, cooks and chambermaids in their moments of rest.
The emergency hospital is an initiative of the City Hall of São Paulo and has 192 low-complexity beds and eight semi-intensive beds with respirators. The unit is closed to the public and must receive patients transferred from the public network. In addition to other actions, Grupo Tigre will donate 1,200 water tanks with a storage capacity of 500 liters each to the community of Paraisópolis, in support of the action between Sabesp and the Government of the State of São Paulo. The Hidrovias Institute , a social responsibility organization created by Hidrovias do Brasil, donated R$3.4 million in hospital equipment to the city of Itaituba, in Pará. The donation will equip the new Tapajós Regional Hospital with 200 hospital beds. . The Outback restaurant chain donated its entire Easter egg production to small supermarkets and healthcare professionals. The goal of the action is to help these establishments, which will receive 100% of the proceeds, and is a way of thanking them for the work they do. in the fight against COVID-19.
