Have you ever heard of the concept of mobile lighting ? As the name suggests, the idea is to combine lighting technology with the practicality of mobility, without neglecting the concern for a functional and elegant design. The trend arrives in Brazil by Studio Interlight , which combines all these concepts in the Donna lamp - the piece was even featured in Restaurante 00:00 , a project by Ricardo Abreu for CASACOR SP 2022 . “Donna was born to illuminate an evening conversation in the garden, a walk around the house, or to provide punctual and efficient light for reading,” explains David Aloi , marketing director and advisor at Studio Interlight de Design. Not surprisingly, its design is inspired by a lit lantern, a format that rescues the affective aspects of lighting, something that perhaps the current generations have not yet experienced. And it is now available for sale on the official Interlight website .

The table lamp has no cables and is lightweight - which makes its design cleaner and allows the piece to be transported while lit. The rechargeable battery has a battery life of up to 64 hours with the LEDs on and the indirect light is activated by a simple touch, available in three intensity levels. Its structure is made of aluminum and is available in six finishes: white, gray, black, red, blue, green, ochre, brown and raw. Thinking about light as a design element, Interlight Studio took the aesthetics of chiaroscuro as a reference when designing Donna: very present in Renaissance paintings, the contrasting expressiveness between light and shadow creates a dramatic atmosphere in the environment, stimulating sensory effects.
“Around a campfire, a candle or a lantern, we disconnect from the distractions of modern life. When surrounded by the atmosphere of high contrasts of light, our relationships become much deeper and more emotional,” says Ricardo Paiva , a research analyst. Interlight Studio market.

CASACOR and design awards

Donna's unique features were approved by visitors to Restaurante 00:00, a project by Ricardo Abreu for CASACOR SP 2022 operated by the MYK group - several lamps were spread over the tables and on the bar counter.

“It was impressive to observe the behavior of the regulars in relation to controlling the light, it is interesting to see how people like to determine the atmosphere that illuminates their conversations”, says Juliana Cogo , marketing director of Grupo Myk who closely followed the interactions with the lamp. “The visitors were delighted and asked us a series of questions about the transportation, loading and operation of the piece”, he adds.

In addition to her success at CASACOR, Donna has also won national and international awards. In July 2022, she won the Abilux Design Award 2022 : evaluated by a committee of notable figures from the design and architecture industry, she won first place considering the following criteria: aesthetics, lighting comfort, sustainability and mobility. It also received Gold in the Product Design category at the 9th edition of the Bornancini Design Award , an initiative of the Association of Design Professionals of Rio Grande do Sul (Apdesign). The globally competitive LIT Awards elected Donna as the best Portable Lamp among the most of 350 models entered by renowned designers.

“Having met a latent demand with appeals of modernity, mobility and emotional design has already led Donna, a recently launched lamp, to win three awards, in addition to good nominations for international awards. And most importantly: it has captured the attention of renowned architects and designers from all over the country”, concludes David.
