Autumn has arrived and with it, temperatures begin to drop at night and periods of intense heat begin to fade. Every now and then a cold day appears. The landscape also changes, with the changing of leaves on the trees and a characteristic brightness of the season, with the sun slightly milder. With this cozy atmosphere , enjoying your home can be a great way to relax. It’s also the perfect time to get everything ready for winter. Want some tips on how to enjoy autumn in the comfort of your own home? Check them out below!

1. Organize the bed linen

The first tip has to do with organization . It's time to take the blankets , throws and comforters out of the back of the closet and leave them clean and smelling good for use in the coming seasons. Take advantage of the fact that autumn alternates between hot and cold days, as well as having few rainy periods, to wash the heavier bedding. If you don't have much space in the laundry area, take thicker comforters and blankets to the laundry.

2. Opt for warm textures

During the fall, the wind tends to be colder in the late afternoon and evening. So, it's worth adding a few layers of cozy textures to your decor. In the living room , you can put a blanket on the sofa or armchairs and even change the cushion covers to knitted or suede models. Take the opportunity to choose pieces with a handmade touch , which will add even more personality to the decor.

3. Choose desaturated colors

Fall colors are known for their palettes with desaturated — or somewhat muted — tones. If you want to give your decor a touch of this vibe, try changing out small pieces, such as pillows and decorative objects, or painting the walls , like in this living room designed by architect Vinícia Brandão. That way, when summer arrives, it will be easier to change the atmosphere of the room again.

4. Host a cheese and wine night

Cooler evenings are all about a good glass of wine , accompanied by cheese. So, take the opportunity to gather with friends or even create a romantic atmosphere for two at home. Here, it is worth using creativity and using wooden boards to accommodate the cheeses of your choice, with dried and fresh fruits, nuts and breads. In general, it is estimated about 250 grams of cheese and half a bottle of wine per person.

5. Time to enjoy hot drinks

Autumn is a transition period between summer and winter and a time when sunlight gradually reduces, making nights longer and colder. During this season, winds also increase and humidity decreases, as well as fog and leaf fall. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the care of plants :
  • Pruning: During the fall, plants prepare for the arrival of the intense winter cold and store energy. So, to make it easier for sunlight to enter, perform regular pruning, removing dry and damaged branches, as well as dead or yellowed leaves.
  • Watering: at lower temperatures, plants lose less water and therefore require less water. To keep them healthy, pay attention to the soil moisture and check if they need watering – if it is still damp, water it the next day.
  • Fertilization : Fertilize at least every 20 days during the fall to ensure that the plants develop healthily. Use organic fertilizers, such as worm castings, instead.

7. Change the rugs

Make the most of your home's sensory stimuli to create a welcoming atmosphere. A good idea is to replace the rug in your bedroom or living room with a higher pile rug. Plush or shaggy rugs are soft and cozy, and they also add charm to your decor.

8. Make the balcony more cozy

A good idea is to turn it into a space for reading , meditation or even a place to practice creative leisure . After all, it is important to have moments to calm your mind and rest your body in this busy routine that we live. You can put futons instead of armchairs, choose a colorful rug and throw some pillows or even install a hammock.
