What ancestors do we want to be? This is the motto that guides
CASACOR 2024 , whose provocation instigates professionals from the north to the south of the country, and also from Latin America, to develop projects aligned with the social and environmental challenges of contemporary times. It is in this context that the theme of CASACOR 2024 arises, "
From the present, the now ", which aims to renegotiate the present to build an innovative future. Presented at an
exclusive event at MASP last year, the theme will be announced today (29) on all CASACOR digital media.
André Secchin , CASACOR's General Director;
Livia Pedreira , President of the Board of Trustees; and
Pedro Ariel Santana , Director of Relationships and Content, will be featured in a series of videos that will explain the three main nuances of the new theme: its importance to the market, the legacy we want to leave for future generations, and the need to bring ancestry into the present.
As a gift, the now
More than just aligning expectations around national and international exhibitions, the theme is a tool that
creatively stimulates the professionals involved in the execution of CASACOR, while at the same time coming into contact with the issues of our time, positioning itself as a legacy for housing and for societies, with the intention of inventing a
greener, more egalitarian and more diverse future . More than that, the theme also functions as a mapping of the sector, raising the most urgent issues that permeate contemporary times. "We have to
instigate and
intrigue . This is CASACOR's role as the main voice and market organizer in the segment", explains André Secchin. Discover the
Manifesto that initiated the theme "As a gift, the now":
A greener future
Every decision we make today has a direct impact on the legacy we will leave for future generations. This certainty, as Livia Pedreira explains, encourages
the CASACOR community to
mobilize to envision the future through the lens of society's present. "[The theme] is also an opportunity for us to
reflect on the impact of each action or choice in projects, especially when we talk about housing." Therefore, she emphasizes, we need to move towards
eco-progressive constructions , adopting bioclimatic principles – such as natural light and ventilation, renewable materials with low carbon emissions, thermal and acoustic efficiency – and mobilizing local resources and agents to respond creatively to the most urgent issues of our time. "This exercise must be based on innovation and responsibility with the legacy we intend to leave for future generations", adds the curator. She highlights that the 2024 Manifesto further highlights this intention, by proposing an
immersion in our cultural biodiversity , in the beauty of our origin, made of resilience, joy and enchantment. "It also calls us to listen to the voices of the guardians of the planet, those who maintain in their lifestyle the wisdom necessary to heal the earth", summarizes Livia.
Revival of ancestral knowledge
Indigenous baskets, clay benches, embroidery and crafts: decorating today is much more sustainable and rich in stories, in ancestral knowledge that goes back generations. "Bringing ancestry into the present is
recognizing and valuing our origins ", explains Pedro Ariel Santana. Therefore, rediscovering the
wisdom of the native peoples also means establishing a new relationship with nature and time. It is there that the stories that define who we are and what we want to be are preserved. "A house, for example, is much more than a roof. It is the place where we establish our most important relationships. (...) Bringing ancestry into an environment is promoting
rich exchanges of experiences ", concludes Pedro. Check out the full videos on CASACOR's social media channels: Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
