Designed by David Bastos , the living room of Residência Brando Barbosa , once again the headquarters of CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2023 , maintained all the characteristics of the original architecture , but gained a contemporary feel with a decor where light tones prevail in the furniture and fabrics and the sandy texture of the wall, in a reference to Rio.

In terms of design , organic shapes dominate the scene through sofas, armchairs, tables and curved and rounded benches. The color palette, on the other hand, ranges from light gray tones – present, above all, in the upholstery, the main rug and the natural marble furniture, with bronze details that add a touch of sophistication to the set.

The colors appear in a punctual way, with emphasis on the narrow orange rug custom-made by Phenicia (which surrounds a part of the main rug), a few ornaments, the 70s tapestry by the artist Carybé and the original paint on the doors and skirting boards, in grayish blue, with pink details.

Brazilian design is also well represented in the project: the stone coffee table is by Simone Coste , the bar cabinet is by the Campana Brothers and the recycled cardboard sculptures are creations by Domingos Tótora . The dining table , the granite carved bench and the bronze side table were designed by designer Lucas Recchia .

The abundant natural light in the environment and the fluid circulation highlight the works of art by great national names such as Carybé , Almandrade , Tunga and Waltércio Caldas , in addition to the photography by Fernando Torquato .
"When I visited the property, the living room was the room that moved me the most," says the architect. "Since the main house is listed, we preserved the original structure to further enhance its history. Then, we applied a texture to the walls that is reminiscent of beach sand and has everything to do with Rio de Janeiro."
