"As a gift, the now". What ancestors do we want to be? What legacy will we leave for future generations and for the planet? It is with this reflection and provocation that the motto of CASACOR 2024 takes shape, the most complete exhibition of architecture, landscaping, art and interior design in the Americas.

The theme – which will permeate all national and international editions of CASACOR next year – was presented at a closed event for partners, suppliers, press and influencers at MASP, the São Paulo Museum of Art . During the presentation, André Secchin, CEO of CASACOR , mentioned the success of the events in 2023, still on display in some cities in the country, and spoke about the planning and positioning of the brand. "We are betting on a different dynamic for the presentation of the theme of CASACOR 2024, as we understand the importance and impact it has on our segment."

Secchin explains that the central idea is to open CASACOR's creative process to the market , enriching the debate and further highlighting the research work of the curatorial team and the organization of the exhibition. "We brought our curatorial team, which annually researches the main scenarios and issues that impact the architecture, design, sustainability and behavior segment, and proposed an open chat with Dutch trend forecaster Li Edelkoort , one of the minds that inspires us in defining the annual theme, translated into a campaign by Agência Sharp." He adds that by putting the spotlight on the topic, the brand is encouraging new scenarios and projects for its events in 2024. "We have to instigate and intrigue. This is CASACOR's role as the main voice and market organizer in the segment."

As a gift, the now

For next year, CASACOR invites us to look towards a new creative axis, less Eurocentric and more authentic. The moment is more than opportune, as the world looks to Brazil with hope and fascination, in the face of the threat of climate collapse. This is what Livia Pedreira , curator of the exhibition, reveals when reminding us that brands and professionals in the cast will have the opportunity to reflect and explore the theme, summarized in the campaign “ De presente, o agora ” (From the present, the now). "This exercise must be based on innovation and responsibility with the legacy we intend to leave for future generations", adds the curator. She highlights that the 2024 Manifesto further highlights this intention, by proposing an immersion in our cultural biodiversity, in the beauty of our origin, made of resilience, joy and enchantment. "It also calls us to listen to the voices of the guardians of the planet. Those who maintain in their lifestyle the wisdom necessary to heal the earth", summarizes Livia. To further enrich the debate, CASACOR hosted a chat with Dutch trend forecaster Lidewij Edelkoort . A global citizen, the famous educator, editor, design curator and international exhibition curator believes in the creative power of the so-called Global South , where Brazil is located, as an alternative future for humanity. Edelkoort 's conversation with Pedro Ariel Santana , a specialized journalist and curator of the exhibition, and Alexandre Salles , an architect, master in Urban Semiotics (FAU-USP) and coordinator of the European Institute of Design (IED), highlighted the urgency of deepening research into our cultural heritages, as rich as they are diverse, combined with technological innovations, encouraging the professionals and brands present to base their projects and products on this new and much-needed perspective. The CASACOR launch event is sponsored by Deca and LG do Brasil .
In 2024, the exhibition will be full of new features: it will occupy the mezzanine and open terrace of the building and will have a completely different layout.

Manifesto 2024, by Livia Pedreira

The world looks to Brazil with hope and fascination, in the face of the threats of climate and humanitarian collapse. And this look could not be more accurate. As it is home to the majority of the Amazon Rainforest – the planet's precious green lung – and a biodiversity of an as yet incalculable magnitude, the country brings together elements to generate the dawn of an unprecedented economic order: greener, more egalitarian, more diverse, more solar. Complex, exuberant and contradictory, the Brazilian nation faces the challenge of repairing structural injustices and composing a powerful symphony with all the voices that have been silenced over the centuries. As the breadbasket that feeds the world, we have not eliminated hunger among us. We are exemplary in the use of clean energy, but we still live with illegal deforestation and river pollution. We cannot escape the hyper-digitalized world, which does not free anyone from anxiety, loneliness or the difficulty of understanding one another.

Amidst so many paradoxes that tangle the fabric of life, it is urgent to renegotiate the present in order to invent the future . A dive into the cultural biodiversity in which we move will be able to reveal the beauty of our origin, made of resilience, joy and enchantment. These abilities, there is no denying, have always been with us. If today they seem stifled or forgotten, it is comforting to know that we have someone to turn to. We can still hear from the guardians of the planet. Those who maintain in their lifestyle the wisdom needed to heal the earth, clean the rivers, protect the forests and reconnect us to the cosmos. Whether they are among the trees, on the asphalt of the cities or in research centers. From this confluence of knowledge, the inevitable awareness arises that our footprints will leave traces on Earth. This realization redoubles everyone's responsibility for the choices of the present. We will always be someone's ancestors. What kind of ancestor do we want to be? Certainly, solar beings. The providers of all the colors of hope.
