CASACOR São Paulo , the largest exhibition of architecture, arts, interior design and landscaping in the Americas, hosted an urgent topic on the 15th:
Sustainability in the area of Social Responsibility . The discussion was led by
Ester Carro , architect and president of the
Fazendinhando Institute , a social partner of the event. Among the guests for the debate were
Lívia Pedreira , curator of CASACOR, designer
Cláudia Moreira Salles ,
Marta Dora Grostein from Instituto Criar and
Flávia Takeuchi , sustainability manager for Coral paints. One of the main topics discussed was the destination of materials used in the exhibition, which has been running its waste management program since 2016. Having achieved the mark of
99.7% reuse through measures such as dry construction, reuse of water resources, energy savings, selective collection and recycling programs, spokesperson Lívia Pedreira reiterated the importance of promoting the circular economy.
CASACOR 's action in this cycle also takes place after the event, when donations of construction materials resulting from the dismantling are made to NGOs such as the Fazendinhando Institute. Another important point of the meeting was the discussion about the connection between the world of architecture and trends with reality: how the production of
accessible and quality materials , such as pine wood, directly affects the relationship between people in vulnerable situations and their homes. In this same sense, the conversation also revealed the continuity of the
Women in Color Program , a project by Tintas Coral that, in partnership with CASACOR, trains female workers at the Fazendinhando Institute in the area of decorative painting.
Finally, far beyond aesthetic quality, the reflection brought to the meeting exalted
functionality combined with humanity in architecture , revealing the common objective of all projects: the promotion of dignity and well-being.
