By presenting projects that promote comfort, health and well-being, CASACOR São Paulo 2026 has become eligible for the GBC Life Performance Rating seal, a certification from the Green Building Council Brasil aimed at evaluating healthiness criteria in built projects.

The initiative is supported by Sustentech's consultancy, the show's sustainability partner, which guided the cast professionals on strategies capable of contributing to healthier projects aligned with the certification's parameters.

"These are health and well-being measurements that range from air quality to the acoustic aspect of the projects. Since the show's central theme is Mind and Heart, addressing this issue of welcoming, comfort and sustainability, we considered that it would be interesting to use the platform to bring this guidance to people," explains Bruno Schnellrath, director of product and innovation at Sustentech.

The specialist was at CASACOR São Paulo last Monday (8), alongside consultant Stephany Pedrassa. Together, they performed the necessary measurements to apply for the certification in ten pre-selected projects of the show. The results will now be evaluated by the body responsible for issuing the seal.

What does the GBC Life seal evaluate?

The GBC Life Performance Rating seal is a recent certification from the Green Building Council Brasil used to evaluate healthiness criteria in already built projects. Its application covers residences, companies, public spaces and events with constant occupancy of people.

The idea for creating the GBC Life Performance Rating came from Sustentech, which identified the absence of this type of evaluation in the market. "An executive committee was formed, where we discussed all the necessary metrics and guidelines. Currently, we have a team of qualified professionals and specialized equipment for this type of measurement. We go to the site, take the measurements and obtain the results for the issuance, or not, of the seal," mentions Schnellrath.

The pillars of healthiness

The GBC Life Performance Rating criteria were developed based on certifications and technical and scientific studies already consolidated internationally. Among them are air quality, acoustic comfort, electromagnetic pollution, water quality, lighting, cleaning products and biophilia.

Each indicator has specific evaluation parameters, measured by equipment used by the technical team during visits to the projects. In some cases, however, the results are analyzed according to the function performed by the space.

"For example, CASACOR's Speakeasy serves the purpose of being a darker, more disguised bar. So, it's understandable that it doesn't reach the ideal lighting levels expected for work projects. In the other spaces, this issue will obviously be monitored," he assures.

The specialist explains that there are mandatory and "optional" requirements in the evaluation. To achieve the seal, it is necessary to meet all mandatory criteria and at least 40% of the extras. The final score is calculated based on the performance obtained in all analyzed categories.

Projects selected for analysis

Ten projects of CASACOR São Paulo 2026 were chosen for the evaluation of the GBC Life Performance Rating seal. Sustentech prioritized permanence spaces (those where we stay for more than an hour), such as living rooms, bedrooms, offices, cafés and restaurants.

The projects evaluated were: Bilheteria, by Viviane Telles; Cubikoo Pavilion, by Edward van Vliet; Qalb Boutique Café, by Teresa Simões Arquitetura; Apartamento Deca, by Gui & Dado Castello Branco; Casa da Marcenaria Brasileira - Duratex, by João Panaggio; Casa Coral Celeiro Alvorada, by Nildo José; Casa Brastemp, by Marcelo Salum; Suíte do Casal, by Daniel de Castro Cunha; Home Office Entre Veios, by Marina Salles Arquitetura e Interiores; and Speakeasy, by Studio Gaibola.

According to Bruno, a differential of the process was the consulting carried out by Sustentech during the execution of the projects. "They were, mainly, recommendations regarding the use of non-toxic materials, such as water-based paints or low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) paints. We also talked about the post-construction cleaning care, such as the use of appropriate products and care with the permanence of fine particles that could harm the breathing of visitors and employees".

When the surroundings favor well-being

The fact that CASACOR São Paulo is held at the Parque da Água Branca already represents an advantage when it comes to healthiness. "We have here a reality where most of the projects have natural lighting and ventilation, even dispensing with air conditioning systems in many cases. The acoustic issue also stands out, since you are in an isolated park. This is in addition to the vegetation -- which helps a lot in air purification!".

In addition to the natural characteristics of the location, the presence of multiple gardens and buildings with wide openings favors conditions that dialogue directly with some of the criteria evaluated by the certification. This is the second consecutive edition of the show at Parque da Água Branca, which receives preservation actions to ensure the protection of its historical and environmental heritage during the event.

The path to certification

The measurements will now undergo auditing and will be forwarded to GBC Brasil. If the results meet the required parameters, the certification will be granted. The process usually takes about a month until the final response is released.

"One of the reasons we are in this partnership with CASACOR is that, being a stage that communicates not only with its entire network of architects, but also with the thousands of visitors, the event shows that it is possible to adopt sustainability, health and well-being solutions in practice", concludes Bruno Schnellrath along with Stephany Pedrassa.
